FG DENIES ASKING NIGERIAN ATHLETES TO FUND THEMSELVES TO RIO OLYMPICS

Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has released a statement denying claims that they asked the Nigerian Athletic contingent to Rio 2016 Olympics to purchase their tickets themselves. Read the statement from Dalung after the cut...


WE DID NOT ASK ATHLETES TO BUY TICKETS TO RIO
The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development says it did not direct foreign based athletes going to the Olympic Games in Rio to buy their own air tickets. The Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung said this in a statement following a purported mail asking athletes to buy their tickets to the Olympics and which was said to have originated from the Ministry. Barrister Dalung stated that the Director, High Performance Angie Taylor has been saddled with the responsibility of arranging for the flights and movement of the foreign based athletes to and from Rio. "We did not write any mail asking athletes to pay their way to Rio. As the overseers of sports in the country, it is our duty to take care of all our athletes. The letter did not come from us and we will investigate the writer of that letter. It does not represent our stand concerning the movement of athletes to Rio and the writer or anybody asking athletes to buy their tickets to Rio will be investigated. We ask Nigerians and athletes in particular to disregard the mail" Dalung said. The minister however regretted the embarrassment caused by the letter and asked athletes to remain focused on their build-up to the Rio games.

Well one of the groups involved in all this fracas must be telling lies, either the FG or the Athletes. Who we go believe now na the matter on ground my people..whatever the outcome sha, abeg make dem fund the athletes make dem go Rio go represent us, e go be big shame if we no participate. Even though say i sabi say we no prepare well at all, athletes go dey lack morale like this sef!

31 year old Cristiano Ronaldo who already has a bronze statue, a museum and a hotel named after him in Funchal - his birthplace and the capital of Madeira is to have the international airport in Madeira, Portugal named after him following his and Portugal's success at the just concluded Euro 2016.

President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, on Friday confirmed that the island's main international airport will be renamed the Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo airport.

According to Miguel Albuquerque, the decision is an acknowledgement to the services and high profile the Real Madrid player has brought to the region of Madeira and Portugal at large with his football career and business ventures in the area.

UPDATE ON THE MALNOURISHED CHILD FOUND CHAINED IN CHURCH


Officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Friday rescued a nine-year-old boy named Taiwo Korede, who had been chained for weeks in a 'Celestial Church of Christ key of Joy Parish Ajiwo', located at Ajibawo in Ado - Odo, Ota division 2, Ogun State. The case has since been transfered to the appropriate authority for further investigation and he has been taken to the hospital.

Mehn na the height of wickedness be this. How person go just decide say na to chain small pikin abandon am be the best thing to do? People get mind o! Anybody wey know about the matter suppose face the full weight of the law!

A train badly crashed with Vehicles today at Kila, Kilometer 3 on Ibadan - Abeokuta road today. A DAF truck, Toyota Camry, and a Train were involved in the accident. However, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), no casualties were recorded.

Thank God say no casualty dey recorded for this accident o, no be small matter.

SENATOR ALLEGEDLY REFUNDS N300M, EFCC GRANTS HIM BAIL

Omisore also allegedly confessed to receiving funds from the office of the National Security Adviser for a land which he sold to them.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released Senator Iyiola Omisore on bail after he allegedly refunded N300m, reports say.
According to Premium Times, the Senator wrote his bank to pay the anti-graft agency the sum of N170m and also presented a bank draft of N130m before he was allowed to go home.
The total sum which Omisore allegedly refunded to the EFCC came to N300m.
Omisore also allegedly confessed to receiving funds from the office of the National Security Adviser for a land which he sold to them.
The Senator had earlier denied getting any money from the embattled National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

Punch reports that an EFCC detective said “On July 9, 2014, N150m was paid into the bank account of Sawanara at First Bank. On August 1, 2014, N300m was paid into Sawanara Limited.
“On August 8, 2014, about N160m was paid into the bank account of Fimex Gilt Limited domiciled at UBA. On the day of the election, August 9, 2014, N350m was paid into the First Bank account of Metropolitan Consortium.”

According to Nigeria Tribune, Omisore confirmed his release saying “Thanks for your support and prayers. I also thank my supporters for their steadfastness. I’m back at home in Abuja.”
The Senator previously slammed the EFCC with a N10b suit for defamation of character.

ARMY RESCUES MISSING COMMANDING OFFICER AND 5 OTHERS

The Nigerian Army has rescued five soldiers and officers among those declared missing after an ambush by Boko Haram members at Guru Gongon in Borno state on Wednesday July 20th. ‎ A commanding officer, three officers and 16 soldiers were declared missing in action after the ambush.

In a statement released today by Army spokesman, Col. Usman Sani, the commanding officer of the troops was among those rescued early this morning.


The statement reads
”It will be recalled that some of our troops were missing in action after an ambush at Guro Gongon on July 20, 2016. Consequently, concerted efforts were initiated to search for and rescue them. The measures included the use of air assets, special forces and patrols. We wish to inform you that the search party has this morning found five more officers and soldiers that were declared missing in action, including the unit’s commanding officer. Although they are in a stable condition, they have been moved to our medical facilities for medical care.”
Our army dey try wella, no be easy job dem dey do, especially as terrorism don dey turn to normal thing world wide now. Thank God say their rescue mission go well..three gbosa for the troops!!!

PRESIDENT BUHARI OFFERS TO HELP GERMANY FIGHT TERRORISM

President Buhari has offered to help Germany in anyway, fight terrorism.
This is coming on the heels of reports that an 18-year-old German-Iranian gunman opened fire in a busy shopping mall in Munich on Friday, July 22, 2016, killing at least nine people.
Buhari also expressed shock at the incident that has been condemned by leaders across the globe.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement, said the President sent his condolences to the people and Government of Germany.

The statement also said “On behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Buhari sends his most sincere condolences to the families and friends of victims of the barbaric act.
“The President says it is quite unfortunate and inconceivable that the forces of evil do not relent on their activities, but expresses confidence that with the unanimity of purpose from all forces around the world, the workers and perpetrators of these evil acts will not prevail.

“The President also assures the people of Germany that Nigerians as a people are standing with them at this time and are ready to assist in any way to defeat the planners and executors of such crimes.”
Meanwhile, supporters of ISIS celebrated the shooting rampage in a shopping mall in the southern German city of Munich on social media.

SUNDERLAND APPOINT DAVID MOYES AS NEW MANAGER

Sunderland FC have signed former Man U, Everton and Real Sociedad coach David Moyes as it's new coach on a 4 year deal.
David Moyes was signed to replace Sam Allardyce who was on Friday appointed the New England coach.


Club Chairman Ellis Short said Moyes was the club's 'number one managerial target for the last five appointments'.
 'We are absolutely delighted to welcome David Moyes to Sunderland, who was by far and away our first choice. 
'He is a man whose football pedigree speaks for itself and is someone I have long admired. I have spoken with him on many occasions and I have always been hugely impressed. He was my number one managerial target for the last five appointments, but his desire to honour existing contracts meant we were not able to bring him to Sunderland previously. To be able to finally welcome him as our manager is fantastic news for the club. 
'The fact that David has committed to a four-year deal is a clear demonstration of his belief in what he can achieve here. NIGERIAN ATHLETES BEG FOR SUPPORT AHEAD OF RIO OLYMPICS

Some athletes who are to represent Nigeria in track and field events at the Olympics have been begging for financial support.

Following failure of the Federal Government of Nigeria to financially back Team Nigeria for 2016 Olympic Games, the abandoned athletes have taken to social media to solicit for funds.
President Muhammadu Buhari met with athletes last week at the Old Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja and assured them that he would make sure he releases funds early enough ahead of the Olympics.

“Let me equally assure you that the Federal Government is fully committed to our delegation’s successful participation in the Rio Olympic Games and will ensure that funds budgeted for the Games are released without further delay,” the President is quoted to say by ThisDay Newspapers.
Despite the assurance from the President, the Sports Ministry have failed to support the athletes. The athletes in the week of July 17-23 received e-mails from the Sports Ministry informing them to pay for flight tickets to Brazil themselves.

UPDATE ON MIAMI POLICE OFFICER WHO SHOT UNARMED BLACK THERAPIST

Miami Police has officially revealed the name of the police officer who this week shot and wounded Charles Kinsey, a black man who was unarmed and worked as a Therapist for autistic patients. See the full story here.
North Miami city manager Larry M. Spring said Officer Jonathan Aledda, 30, a member of Miami's SWAT unit who has served on the force for four years is responsible for mistakenly shooting Charles Kinsey while the therapist rushed to the aid of his troubled patient.



According to Larry Spring, Aledda's identity wasn't revealed at first due to the death threats he's been receiving since footage of the shooting went viral online.
Spring also revealed that a second police officer, Cmdr. Emile Hollant, has been suspended without pay for giving conflicting statements about the events surrounding the shooting while Aledda has already been placed on administrative leave.

Apparently this innocent guy is an upcoming artist that clearly looks like Adekunle but has never and doesn't plan to use that to his advantage.

Malvin Odigs is an upcoming artist that is currently working hard to build his own brand. I spoke to him few minutes ago and he is clearly sad about the incident.

Kim Kardashian's friend, Fergie, may have suggested that the Taylor Swift, Kimye feud is simply a publicity stunt.

The "M.I.L.F. $" singer who is a buddy of Kim's made the revelation during an interview with Australian radio hosts, Kyle and Jackie O on Thursday, July 21.
Speaking during the interview, Fergie said:
"You've gotta respect her for sticking up for her husband. Knowing them, it's probably a big master plan.
"They'll probably all come together at the MTV Awards or something."
It's hardly a surprise that someone sees a possible publicity stunt in the offing as the Kardashian-Jenner clan are known for shocking their fans by switching any enemies to friends when it is least expected.

A source reportedly revealed to Us Weekly that Kim and Kanye were exasperated with Swift's alleged good girl act and had to put an end to it, hence the release of the recording.
