ENGLAND ANNOUNCE SAM ALLARDYCE AS NEW FOOTBALL MANAGER

Sam Allardyce is the new manager of the England National football team. He was appointed today after days of negotiations with the English FA and he's been tasked with restoring the football glory once associated with the English team as the F.A don't want a repeat of the awful showing at Euro 2016 were England exited at the hands of minnows Iceland.

"I am extremely honoured to be appointed England manager especially as it is no secret that this is the role I have always wanted," Allardyce told TheFA.com. "For me, it is absolutely the best job in English football. I will do everything I can to help England do well and give our nation the success our fans deserve.
"Above all, we have to make the people and the whole country proud. I know we have talented, committed players and it is time for us to deliver."
In taking the reins of his country, the 61-year-old is handed his first opportunity to represent England, having never won an international cap during a two-decade playing career. 'Big Sam', as he has been known throughout his managerial career, took the role after steering Sunderland clear of relegation from the English Premier League.

Rotimi Amaechi  Rotimi Amaechi
(Today)
The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, says the Federal Government will continue to safeguard Nigeria’s marine environment to improve on revenue generation.
Amaechi stated this on Friday in Lagos at the inauguration of the Command, Control, Communication and Intelligence System (CCCIS) of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
``It is pertinent, therefore, to note that the development of this facility began with an approval in 2013 with the aim of providing Business Intelligence for the movement of vessels and cargoes as well as providing improved and secured communications within our waterways for enhancement of efficiency within the nation’s seaports.
``I wish to reiterate that this is one of the positive responses to the dynamics of port modernisation as well as device for stemming the safety, security and operational challenges facing the port system and the maritime industry.

``Let me state that the seaports in Nigeria provide one of the major platforms for trade facilitation with about 90 per cent of our imports and exports being done through the seaports.’’
The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms Hadiza Usman, said the authority would undertake detailed security assessment of port facilities.
``On issues relating to maritime security, responsibility is placed on the ports authority to undertake detailed security assessment of port facilities and identify threats in order to checkmate them.
``Furthermore, it would enable us to surmount security and safety challenges within our operations with the capability of an interface with stakeholders aiding us to track and record maritime security breaches.

``In addition, this technology enables the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to ensure that all revenue leakages are blocked.
``In furtherance of the Federal Government’s efforts toward revitalising our economy.
``Let me reiterate that in the days ahead, the Nigerian Ports Authority will be playing pro-active roles in the digital space.
``Ensuring that there is synergy and collaboration among relevant agencies like the Nigerian Navy, the Nigeria Customs Service, NIMASA, and all other security and intelligent agencies.

``For the purpose of sharing information, documentation to enhance maritime safety, security as well as blocking all revenue leagues,`` Usman said.
NPA’s Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mr Mohammed Bello-Koko, said the system would block revenue leakages in port operations.
``Constant upgrading cannot be over emphasised, especially at the time the Federal Government is focusing on achieving robust economy in all sectors.

``The launching of the Command, Control, Communication and Intelligence Centre that we are about to witness today, ASPEAKS volume of our preparedness and commitment to ensure best practices in our operations while creating an enabling environment for effective synergy with stakeholders in the sub-sector.
``This facility which I consider a game changer will enhance efficiency; improve this administration’s aggressive drive to block revenue leakages and impact positively on security.

``What we are about to launch today will provide online real time monitoring and recording of port channels’ activities with emphasis on safety, security, operations and of course revenue generation.
``It would also provide seamless communication between ports within the country, `` Bello-Koko said.
Bello-Koko urged stakeholders to partner with NPA as the authority looked forward to a robust synergy in order to utilise the system effectively.

Take nothing away from the minister of transportation, he is a very smart man. we dey hope say e go fit do better job for the role e dey play now sha.

NUHU RIBADU LEAVES PDP TO REJOIN APC

There have been rumors that he left PDP and re-joined APC, a party of which he was a founding member. He has just released a statement confirming the rumors. Read his statement below
I have finally heeded the calls on me to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party of which I was a founding member. I re-registered as a member of the APC on Thursday through the party’s online portal. After that, the leadership of the party in my Bako ward of Yola South Local Government Area visited me in my Yola residence to welcome me back to their fold.
My decision to return to the APC was triggered by my believe that all politics are local. Almost everyone around me, and with whom we started my political journey believed the time had come for us to make sacrifices and make concessions. That is in addition to the unbelievable love that my friends in the APC have showered on me in the past months. They demonstrated in words and action that they wanted me back home. I also did a deep and long reassessment of the circumstances that warranted my exit from the APC in the first place. I left the APC in 2014 owing to fundamental disagreements with the ways the chapter of the party in my state was run after it fell into some hands. Some colleagues and I tried hard to save the then APC administration from an orchestrated impeachment plot which was unfortunately carried out with active collaboration of some ranking APC members in the state. However, events in the last 15 months have addressed many of the issues and healed some of the wounds. More so, with the genuine and sincere invitations I received since last year to retrace my steps into the party, I decided to return after consulting family and political associates at all levels. I would like to appreciate all those members of the party who privately and publicly prodded me to return to the party. My appreciation also goes to the leadership of our party, from my ward in Bako to the national leadership, for the enthusiasm they showed in having me back. NR

E be like say baba just wan join the ruling party sha abi how una see am lol..well time will always tell our true intentions eventually..

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, July 22, 2016, Senator Marafa (APC, Zamfara) said: "We didn’t go to court because we did not like the face of those that emerged, but this is the will of our party. If the party says withdraw the case, we will on to withdraw the case.
"During the 7th assembly, we accorded the ruling party at that time the utmost cooperation and we knew the committees that we were given that time.

Speaking on the reshuffling of committee leaders in the Red Chambers, Marafa said: "I think reshuffling of committees is not new in any parliament. What made that of yesterday a little new is the circumstances of the emergence of this leadership and what followed.
"What happened yesterday is a result of the efforts the party has been putting in for reconciliation in the last few days," he added.
Marafa, a critic of the Senate President was announced chairman of the committee on Petroleum (Downstream) in Thursday, July 21, 2016 committee reshuffle in the Upper Chamber.
