What makes the news???

About a week ago, there was a very odd story making the news, about a money eating snake. Apparently a snake swallowed an estimated 36million naira that was left in jamb office, somewhere in Benue state Nigeria. A lot of people have been complaining on social media about the news worthiness of the story, saying stories like that aren't real and shouldn't be making the news.

I beg to differ, don't get me wrong I understand the annoyance and the bitter emotions the general public feel about that particular story, but nevertheless to a journalist anything that's odd is news worthy.
I remember back in University, I took a course in print journalism. My lecturer gave a typical example of a news headline, he said 'dog bites man' isn't news worthy cos it's a normal thing that occurs, but saying 'man bites dog' is not normal, which makes it news worthy. I hope that makes sense to you guys.

Anyway, I guess what I'm just trying to say is that we shouldn't blame the media (which includes bloggers on social media) about the kind of news that's being circulated around. Obviously there are more important things that should maybe make the news, but if something odd happens it's not the media's fault that something odd happens, however it's their responsibility to report whatever happened to the public be it odd or anything at all.

The media should then push for a rapid investigation to be conducted so that the public can know the truth and nothing but the truth about what happened. Vital questions should be asked by the media;
- Was there really a huge amount of money at the jamb office?
- Why was that amount of money there?
- How did the snake get in there in the first place?

Finally, I agree that the media can actually do more than it's currently doing at the moment. The media has a major role to play in the present and future of this nation. If the media can flourish then we can finally begin to breath a sigh of relief that we're on the right path in this country.

Is love really enough

The three magic words that we all love to hate and hate to love, sometimes I feel like we haven't really scratched the surface when we say we are in love with a particular person. I mean there are over a billion people on planet earth, so how is it possible that we fall for that one person, especially in the era of the new media (social media) which has made the world a global village, just like Marshall Mcluhan one of the fathers of mass communication predicted. 

I mean, in my lifetime I've dated a few girls and I have always at one point in time loved them all, but there's something that shifts inside of you when you find that one person that's made for you and only you and if you're lucky enough Cupid will have shot that person an arrow as well. 

To be honest I've been at a standstill in my life for like the last 4years and it feels like I'm just basically surviving and nothing else. We didn't just come to this world to pay bills and die! Or is that it? Anyway, when I met the love of my life to be very honest I wasn't ready, I even told her I wasn't ready but that I knew she was the one for me. Funny thing is love makes us all stupid and it's hard to control your emotions when you're helplessly and irrevocably in love with someone. When I say I wasn't ready, I mean I wanted to be financially stable and independent. I wanted to be successful first before the love of my life comes into the picture, guess Cupid had other plans for me. 

This year makes it the second year I've been dating the love of my life and I keep asking myself the same question over and over again, is love really enough?? I mean I've got plans for my life and all that don't get me wrong lol, my girl loves my drive and ambition but still I ask myself is love really enough?

I don't want my kids to lack anything they want, I need to spoil my wife every other day you know. However, one thing I have discovered is that if you keep waiting on anyone or anything before you decide to settle with that one person that makes your heart skip a beat, trust me you'll only have yourself to blame. 

Love is enough, love is the answer to any question you might have. Just pure love guys!!!

A Fresh Start

I remember when I started blogging a few years back, I was so worried about how people would react to the content I was putting out. So I tried as much as possible to do what every other blog was doing, I forgot that originality actually goes a long way in getting you an audience. I got so carried away with doing what was considered the normal thing at that time, forgetting that it was those who dared to do the extraordinary that made a name for themselves.

I lost my big brother in 2016 and it shook me real bad, I got lost in the world, but no one knew or could understand what I was passing through at the time. My brother was my biggest fan, he believed in me even before I believed in myself, he supported my every dream even before I could take a first step towards making it a reality. So when I lost him, it affected me and left me confused, abandoned and betrayed.

I haven't been able to do anything creative since 2016, I only started to find myself last year and I'm really hoping this would be the year I share everything I love doing with you guys. I am going to be unapologetic in doing the things I love and of cos I will be keeping an open mind to constructive criticism and much anticipated feedback.
